Wardrobe Fitter's Complete Fixings Checklist

If you fit wardrobes for a living, you already know the doors and carcass are only half the job. What actually gets you off site on time — and stops you driving back out a week later — is whether you had the right small fixings in the van in the first place. A wonky wall, a handle that needs drilling square, a shelf bracket you didn't think you'd need: these are the things that turn a tidy install into a long day.

1. Screws & Drilling

The fixing that holds everything else together — and the one most likely to let you down if it's the wrong type.

  • Reisser Cutter Countersink Wood Screws — the cutter point shaves a clean pilot as it drives, which matters on melamine-faced chipboard and MFC carcasses where a standard screw can split or blow out the board face. Sold in bulk tubs (1,200–2,000 pcs) with Pozi bits included, in 25mm, 30mm, 35mm and 40mm lengths, so you can match the fixing to the board thickness on the job.
  • Hospa Countersunk PZ Screws — a shorter 15mm x 4.0mm option for fine fixings such as hinge plates and smaller components, sold 1,000 to a box.

2. Jigs & Templates

The difference between a fit that looks handmade and one that looks factory-made usually comes down to a jig.

  • U-Scribe Jig (18mm, set of 3) — used to transfer the exact profile of an uneven wall onto an end panel or filler, so it can be cut to follow the wall line rather than leaving a gap you have to scribe by eye or pack out with sealant.
  • U-Scribe Jig Installer Set — the fuller kit for fitters doing this regularly, for faster, more repeatable scribing across multiple panels.
  • H-JIG Adjustable Handle Drilling Jig — clamps to the door edge and gives you a consistent, square drilling point for handle fixings every time, so handles line up across a full run of doors without measuring each one from scratch.
  • Hinge & Mounting Plate Jig Template — takes the guesswork out of positioning hinge cups and mounting plates accurately, so doors hang square first time.

3. Gap-Fillers & Alignment

For the walls that are never quite as flat or square as you'd like them to be.

  • Space Plugs (Mini, Regular, Large) — adjustable fixing plugs that take up the gap between a carcass or end panel and the wall, giving a solid, wobble-free fixing point without packing the gap with offcuts. Mini covers 15–35mm gaps, Regular 30–50mm, and Large 45–80mm, so between the three sizes most real-world wall gaps are covered. Drill bit included with most packs.
  • Grey Plastic Shim Wedge Strips (100 pack) — snap-off packers for fine levelling under carcasses, shelves and door tracks where you just need to take up a few millimetres.

4. Brackets & Supports

The unglamorous stuff that stops shelves sagging and carcasses racking six months down the line.

  • M4TEC Heavy Duty Steel Shelf Brackets — chrome or brass, for load-bearing wardrobe shelving.
  • Furniture Fixing Steel L Brackets — general-purpose joint brackets, sold 100 to a pack for keeping on hand across multiple jobs.
  • Steel Angled Fixing Brackets (plain and horizontal/vertical slot versions) — for carcass and panel joints where a bit of adjustment on fixing position helps.
  • Mild Steel Chair Fixing Brackets — useful wherever you need a compact, low-profile corner fixing.
  • Plug-in Shelf Supports (5mm) — the small stuff that's easy to run out of mid-job, so worth keeping well stocked rather than a single spare set.

5. Soft-Close & Door Furniture

Small hardware that has an outsized effect on how "finished" a job feels to the customer.

  • Soft Close Rubber Door Buffers — a quick, low-cost upgrade for hinged doors that stops slamming.
  • Soft Close Damper & Bracket — for a more controlled close on cabinet and wardrobe doors.
  • Sliding Door Soft Close Systems (pair) — matched to Heritage, Classic and Shaker doors, and separately to Palermo, Supreme and Curve doors, for retrofitting soft-close onto sliding wardrobe doors that don't already have it.

6. Temporary Handles & Hinges

  • M4TEC T-Pull Temporary Cabinet Door Handles — our own product, designed to give you a grip on doors during hanging and alignment before the final handles go on, so you're not marking finished hardware while you're still adjusting the fit.
  • M4TEC Black Interior Butt Door Hinge (ZD4) — a straightforward spare for internal cabinet doors.

7. Drawer Runners

Emuca full-extension ball bearing drawer runners — push-to-open and soft-closing, in a full range of lengths from 300mm to 600mm, for replacing worn runners or building drawers into wardrobe interiors.

8. Tool Consumables

Reisser OMT Multi-Tool Blades — for the cutting and trimming jobs that come up mid-fit, so you're not stopping to source a blade from elsewhere.
