How to read a Kronospan decor code

Kronospan uses two styles of decor code, and both appear in this chart:

• K-codes: a K followed by three or four digits, such as K357, K084 or K7031. Many Kronospan woodgrains and newer colours use this format.
• Four-digit codes: a plain number, such as 0729, 8509 or 8685. These cover many solid colours and long-running woodgrains.

The letters after the number, such as PW, SN, SU or BS, are the surface finish. Match on the number first. The finish only matters where the same number comes in very different sheens, for example gloss white (8685 HG) against a matt or textured white. Where that happens, the table lists each finish on its own row.

Where to find the code on your board

• The label or sticker on the board edge or packaging
• Your merchant's delivery note or invoice
• The cutting list or order from your board supplier or kitchen/bedroom manufacturer
• The edging tape order, which usually carries the same decor code as the board

If you only have the colour name, search the table for that instead. Kronospan names like Castello Oak, Hudson Oak or Artisan Beech are listed alongside each cap.

Why some codes appear twice

A few Kronospan codes are listed against two caps. There are two reasons:

• Different finishes. Codes like 8685, 0190 and 0564 come in matt, textured and high-gloss versions. Check the finish letters on your label and pick the row that matches. Gloss boards need a gloss cap.
• Two close matches. For a handful of codes, two KwikCaps colours sit very close to the board. If you're unsure which suits your job, hold both against your board using the A4 fold-out sample sheet.

One cap, several boards

Most KwikCaps colours are cross-matched to more than one board manufacturer. The last column of each table shows the equivalent Egger decor where there is one. That helps if you're working on a job that mixes Kronospan and Egger board, or if your supplier switches brands mid-project.

• 20mm: for larger screw heads and fixings. Sold in boxes of 700 caps on selected colours.
• Thickness: each cap is 0.3mm thin, so it sits almost flush with the board surface.

How to fit KwikCaps on Kronospan board

1. Drive the screw slightly below or flush with the surface.
2. Wipe away dust so the adhesive bonds cleanly.
3. Peel a cap off the sheet and line it up over the screw head.
4. Press firmly with your thumb for a few seconds.
